For about $6, hydrogen peroxide is a basic first aid kit essential that is quite helpful. First aid kits are typically (if we’re lucky) able to be stored for months before we need them, which makes it easy to forget about the supplies inside.

When a bottle of hydrogen peroxide is opened, it only lasts two months before it basically turns to water, while an unopened bottle will last a year before needing to be replaced. To be cautious, it’s advisable to go over everything in your first-aid bag once every two months. Nobody likes to be unprepared for an emergency.
You should not play with hydrogen peroxide, as it is used to treat wounds. You might become infected if it’s out of date, and considering the current situation, nobody wants to go to the hospital right now. In this case, it’s better to be cautious than sorry.
