The sixteenth-century fresco, which had been concealed for decades without being discovered, was verified by the high-tech effort. Some people think that the mural honours Florence’s triumph over Milan at the mediaeval Tuscan town of Anghiari in the fifteenth century. It is unclear why Florence covered the Da Vinci mural in frescoes. Despite its beauty, the painting is incomplete because Da Vinci left Florence in 1506.
