4. Urca de Lima
Current Estimated Value: $5 million*
Year Vanished: 1715 Year Found: 1928
A Spanish ship named the Urca de Lima sank in 1715, close to Fort Pierce, Florida, in the United States. Spain sent out several ships, including the Treasure Fleet of 1715, to cruise between the Americas and itself. Urca was a member of this fleet. William Beach, an adventurer, rediscovered Urca’s wreck in 1928; it was located two hundred yards off the coast of Jack Island Park near Fort Pierce.

The first-ever Florida Underwater Archaeological Preserve designation went to Urca de Lima in 1987. It was added to the US National Register of Historic Places in 2001. It is believed that the Lima may have carried $5 million in treasure when it sank, but little has been found, making the recovery effort on the ship pitiful.
