This downed airplane has a heartbreaking history. The Bahamas’ airspace was mostly unpatrolled in the late 1970s, and as a result, there were a lot of unauthorized flights in the region. This plane apparently ran out of fuel and plummeted into the water while it was passing over the marijuana-filled area.

Two people were still on board when a search party discovered the plane’s wreckage the very following day. Numerous marine creatures have made their home in the wreckage, which is only ten feet below the water’s surface. Due to its accessibility and historical significance, the plane wreck has become a popular diving and snorkeling spot.
