Between 2001 and 2002, more than sixty thousand priceless objects, mostly made of colorful porcelain and ceramics, were unearthed from the ship. The artifacts discovered in these remains were compared by scientists to those discovered on board the Dutch ship Witte Leeuw, which sank in 1613 while carrying trade goods from Asia. Therefore, it’s possible that the ship was transporting these ceramics for export to the subcontinent’s East India Company.
