Divers in Mexico were pleasantly delighted to find the largest underwater tunnel system in the world—it belonged to the Mayans.
The Travel/MMayan Pyramids and Ruins
After over 10 months of investigation, the Gran Acuifero Maya group discovered a network of over 200 underwater caverns that were fully connected to form this complex chain. These caves offer archaeologists a great opportunity to learn about ancient artifacts that date back roughly two millennia, including human bones and pottery.
