Captured using an embedded high-definition drone by Ugandan researchers, this striking image records the infrequent occurrence of a local lion taking a nap (or potentially seeking shelter) at a height in a tree. Before the lions would show the photographer their actual natural states, photographer Alexander Braczkowski had to train them to tolerate the drones for several months.

Researchers believe that because of this peculiar behavior, which has only been observed in these African lions, these fabled cats have been compelled to stray increasingly from their typical hunting strategies in an effort to find sustenance. Nevertheless, this picture is striking because it showcases the stunning, huge cat in all of its beauty.
