Regarding the existence of oceans on (or beneath) the surface of the Red Planet, scientists have been divided for a long time. That all changed in 2016 when Dr. Alexis Palmero Rodriguez and his associates from the Planetary Science Institute in Tuscany uncovered a finding.

The northern lowlands of Mars may have seen extensive sediment redistribution, according to satellite data. Given these facts, the only plausible conclusion that might be drawn is that, a little over 3 billion years ago, Earth’s neighbour was devastated by not one, but two tsunamis. And the presence of oceans is the only condition necessary for a tsunami to occur.
