It will not be feasible for humanity to colonise another world without a replenishable supply of potable water. The significance of Cassie Stuurman’s 2016 discovery of an ice layer the size of New Mexico stems from this. Although the ice may be extremely difficult to reach and buried beneath over thirty feet of dirt, it will serve as an excellent starting point for upcoming “Red Planet” missions.

In the end, any water on Mars is preferable to none at all, provided that it is safe to drink. Granted, any ice discovered there when it melts probably won’t produce the same quality of H2O that customers of Primo Water Corporation are used to.
