For millennia, people have been in love with cats. Archaeologists were renovating a viewing point at the UNESCO-designated Nazca Lines in Peru. In the process, they discovered a faded cat figurine. Because the geoglyph was eroded and on a steep hill, it was initially difficult to notice.

The artwork’s style suggests that the cat shape was probably constructed during the Late Paracas Period, which is why the Peruvian Ministry of Culture estimated its age to be at least 2,000 years. Its lines are 12 to 16 inches wide, and it stretches 121 feet in length.
