That is, until 2022, when gigantic Native American cave artwork was discovered by experts using 3D scans in the small, dim interior of Alabama’s 19th Unnamed Cave (the name is kept secret to prevent thrill-seekers from vandalizing the cave).

Four humanoid people dressed in ornate costumes and an eleven-foot-long diamondback rattlesnake are depicted in the pictures. Since Native Americans thought caves to be sacred gates to the underworld, some historians speculated that these figures might represent spirits. However, the exact history of these sculptures is unknown.
