Yes, this is undoubtedly a good way to ruin a wonderful beach day. In 2012, two San Francisco beachcombers found something strange on Ocean Beach. The tombstone of Emma Bosworth, who passed away in 1876 at the age of twenty, was discovered. After only one month of this finding, another gravestone washed up on the beach.

This one was dated to 1890 and belonged to Delia Prescot, who passed away at the young age of 26. The reason the tombstones ended up on Ocean Beach was that San Francisco had relocated its city boundaries and cemeteries to Colma, California. Tombstones were left behind and converted into a sea wall during the film. These stones washed up on the beach, frightening people, after sections of the barrier came off.
