Although there are several theories regarding the Luvia de Peces, sightings have been verified since the 1800s. The strange occurrence was confirmed when a National Geographic team saw it for themselves in the 1970s. According to others, the most plausible explanation is that the fish were picked up by waterspouts, who then carried them to Yoro and dumped them in buckets of “animal rain” onto the town.
