Vaseline, a common household commodity, can be used for DIY home repairs. Squeaky door hinges may be extremely bothersome, and if your hinge squeals time you open or close the door, you should fix it as soon as possible.

If you don’t have enough WD-40, a little Vaseline or petroleum jelly will suffice. Work a generous amount of the jelly into the hinge. It should adhere nicely, so it does not run or leave a mess like other lubricants. Obviously, if you want a permanent solution, you’ll need to remove and replace the hinge.
