The original purpose of the V-insert was to prevent the sweater or sweatshirt from becoming too baggy. The V-insert expanded to fit the wearer’s head as they poked it through the opening in the hoodie. The other function of the V-insert was to absorb moisture because the chest is a key hotspot for sweating.
