Miari Workman is a 50-year-old single mom who lives with her 9-year-old daughter, adult son, and their beloved 5 cats. She is so devoted to her cats, that she sometimes goes without eating rather than opting to put them up for adoption.

An unbreakable bond

Miari has had her cat Bootsie for a while now, but siblings Lucy, Lace, Wolfie, and Lunar are recent additions to her family. All 5 of her 4-legged friends have been neutered or spayed and microchipped.

Workman revealed that their food alone costs £35 a week and that she sometimes goes without eating in order to be able to feed them.

In fact, the unemployed cat-lover who receives a small pension has declared, ’’I’m not ever going to get rid of my cats, they are my family.’’

She went on to say, ’’If I have to use food banks to support them, that’s what I will do. I’m not ashamed, these things are there to be used.’’

She’s getting help from her loved ones.

The past few weeks have been particularly hard on Miari, who noted that she’s had to rely on help and support from people close to her in order to get by. She explained, ’’Friends took my daughter in, and she had a wonderful time.’’

The single mom then noted that she would do the same if she had the money and someone needed help.

Miari chooses to look at the bright side.

Miari is staying strong and says that she ’’tries not to worry’’ in order to avoid stressing her kids, noting that ’’children can sense these things.’’

And even though her cats do not have insurance, Miari affirms that she would readily bring them to a veterinarian if they required medical attention. She declared, ’’It’s a pet, which means part of the family. Family means everything to me.’’
