In Afrikaans, Rooivalk translates to “Red Falcon.” Created in 1984 by Denel Aviation under the name Atlas Aircraft Corporation, the Denel Rooivalk was designed. The Rooivalk and the Atlas Oryx, a transport helicopter that is based on the Aerospatiale SA 330 Puma, are closely connected to each other.

A type of attack helicopter is the Rooivalk. The Rooivalk, known as AH-2, can function in the severe African climate for extended periods of time without the need for advanced assistance. In addition to carrying unguided rockets and anti-armor and air-to-air missiles, the Rooivalk is armed with a 20mm cannon. The fire control system makes use of GPS and Doppler.
