Diversify Your Dog’s Diet With Fruits and Veggies

Dogs appreciate some variation in their food and are omnivores—that is, they eat both plants and animals, just like people. Why then not treat them nutritionally every now and then? Serving sliced apples frozen to your dog might be a cool summer snack; they are loaded with vitamins and fibres. Small amounts of banana and cucumbers from time to time will most likely also be loved by your dog; these low-calorie treats are especially beneficial for overweight canines.

While some forms of “people food” are absolutely safe and healthful for your dog to eat, not all, including some fruits and vegetables. Before offering your dog a fruit or vegetable they have never eaten before, ask your veterinarian.
