46. Cheeseburger

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $0.68-$2.90*
Pre-packaged food is hit or miss, and this one is definitely a miss. When a customer ordered a cheeseburger, he unwrapped the pre-packaged burger to find that, instead of a slice of cheese, there was just a tiny sliver (also no condiments, lettuce, or tomato, but maybe he wanted it that way).

It’s always tricky when you get food to go, as you can’t unwrap it in the restaurant and you can’t send it back if it’s the wrong order. Sure, you can return it for a refund, but that’s a lot of work, and the restaurant can always say no.

47. A Strawberry-Pomegranate-Mango Margarita

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $13*
A strawberry-pomegranate-mango margarita sounds delicious, right? One customer also thought so, and she ordered exactly that. What the restaurant gave her instead were three different margaritas—one pomegranate, one strawberry, and one mango, which hopefully she didn’t drink back to back.

That order was probably way more expensive than the original, as the price of just one margarita is expensive enough at $13, according to a survey of 1,200 different restaurants. This customer was likely not too pleased when she ended up with a $39 bill. Which she’d likely have to pay, as she took a picture of herself drinking all three at once.

48. Milkshake To Go

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $2-$5*
The sticker on this box says, “Just order takeout,” which was what one customer was trying to do when her order took a different turn. A customer ordered a milkshake to go. The restaurant, which appears to have run out of takeout cups, filled her order—just in a box with a straw taped to it.

Is it drinkable? Sure. Is it technically what the customer ordered? Sure. But, it’s definitely going to be weird drinking a milkshake out of a plastic box. Also, it’s not like the customer can return it for a quality-based reason, so boxed drink it is.

49. Side of Onion Rings

Ordered From: Culver’s
Average Order Price: $2*
Onion rings are a firm favorite when it comes to side dishes. The preparation of this coveted side dish can bring people to or drive them away from a restaurant. Some like them battered and thick, others fine and deep fried with a sprinkling of flour. No one wants to see raw onion rings delivered like this.

Side of Onion Rings @HerbFromChicago / Twitter.com
Surely this is not what Beyoncé meant when she sang: “If you like it then you better put a ring on it.” It’s certainly not what this Culver’s patron meant either. Though technically it is a ring of onions on the side, we can clearly see the problem here.

50. Espresso Shot Over Ice

Ordered From: Dunkin Donuts
Average Order Price: $2*
Coffee is a beverage which people take very seriously. There are countless variations and our preferences have become so specific. Barristers should have to take memory training courses to be able to recite the long winded, detailed coffee specifications.

Espresso Shot Over Ice @u/kgodzilla / Reddit.com
When a customer ordered an Espresso shot ‘over’ ice, this is clearly not what they meant. One wonders the thought process behind putting a tiny cup into a large cup. Perhaps there was little thought involved at all. While technically this is an espresso shot over ice, this is definitely a no-no espresso.

51. Pizza with Chicken

Ordered From: Israel
Average Order Price: $12*
One can only assume this is a case of ‘lost in translation’. This patron ordered chicken on her pizza and was surprised to be served with an entire bird on top of her pizza. Perhaps it is uncommon to order chicken as a toppin in Israel and this is why the server was confused.

However, one has to wonder how many people saw this order before it was served. The staff in the kitchen, servers and front of house staff, at least some of them had to have seen this birdy pizza and wondered if there might have been some mistake. Surely no one would want to be ‘licken this chicken.

52. Extra Toasted Bagel

Ordered From: Tim Hortons
Average Order Price: $6*
People take their bagels very seriously. The fillings are endless in combinations and customers are rather specific about exactly how they like to enjoy their holy bread roll. The exact ratio of cream cheese to salmon, onion to capers and the tastiness of the bagel itself are what make or break the customer experience. In this case a customer ordered an extra toasty bagel and.. this is what she got.

Extra Toasted Bagel @xOjustmeleaOX / Twitter.com
Extra toasted indeed. More like charred, burned to a crisp, blackened and gone up in smoke. One wonders how long it would take for this coal bagel to turn into a diamond bagel. Perhaps it should be buried deep underground to metamorphosis. Or simply to never have to look at it again.

53. Extra Limes

Ordered From: Vilano Beach
Average Order Price: free*
One has to appreciate the generosity of this bartender. Reminiscent of the scene in Beetlejuice when all the guests sit around the dinner table and become possessed by the unwanted guests. While eating a dish with shrimps fanned out of the bowl which eventually came to life during the catchy Harry Belafonte tune.

Extra Limes @tendencee / Pinterest
A customer ordered extra limes to which the expectation would simply be one or maybe two little slices which would be more than sufficient. However this server created a lovely little design using more lime than a person could possibly expect to use. Especially since it is for a simple glass of water.

54. A Little Bit of Mango Salsa

Ordered From: Queen Creek, AZ
Average Order Price: $1*
An employee at this restaurant asked her colleague in the kitchen for a little bit of mango salsa and this is what she received. One has to wonder if it is a practical joke between colleagues or if there is a story behind this. Perhaps a bit of at work rivalry, or maybe a personal vendetta.

A Little Bit of Mango Salsa @Cierra_Ramos / Twitter.com
One thing that is safe to assume (or hope!) is that the staff member who dished up this (literal) little bit of salsa into a wastefully large takeaway container, was joking. There must have been a follow up picture of them coming out of the kitchen laughing with the ‘real’ portion in hand.

55. 5 Extra Peppers

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $12*
Instead of five extra peppers this customer received what we can only guess is five portions of extra peppers. Would you like some pizza with your peppers? Not sure what the family did with all these peppers, though there are people out there who would enjoy this pepper party to the fullest.

Perhaps only to be met with regret the next day as they work their way through the digestive system. Though they might cause some physical discomfort on their way out, they are known to make a person feel happier. Spicy food boosts the natural production of serotonin, promoting wellness.

56. A Fruit Salad in China

Ordered From: China
Average Order Price: $6*
The first thought that pops into mind when seeing this is – but isn’t a tomato a fruit? Well, yes it is In the words of Miles Kingston, a British journalist and musician: “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.”

A Fruit Salad in China @boredpanda / Pinterest
While one can question whether this decision to put tomato in the fruit salad in china was knowledgeable or wise (or neither) one should certainly remember that when traveling, our expectations of food norms should be adjusted. Part of the joy of experiencing the world as a traveler is never knowing what to expect.

57. 12 Inch Pizza

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $9.99*
Sometimes the problem comes from the kitchen, sometimes the server and sometimes the customer. We all know how the saying goes: The customer is always right. In this case, the customer was (somewhat?) clear about what they wanted and they certainly got it.

12 Inch Pizza @u/superjam0508 / Reddit.com
Probably the most expensive one inch pizza ever made, the customer typed 1 instead of 10 when ordering the pizza. Along with some rather incoherent instructions in CAPS: “CAN YOUDO IT 1″ INSTESSD PLEAADE”. Yes sir, yes we can indeed. This is an instance in which one has to laugh, or we would have to cry.

58. Side of Cheese Fries

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $8*
The origin of this coveted side dish is disputed, some saying they were invented in Missouri by Austin Ruse. Others say a teenager named Don Jenkins made chili cheese fries at a Dairy Queen in Texas. While cheese and gravy fries (Poutine) is an iconic symbol of Quebecois cuisine and culture.

Side of Cheese Fries @boredpanda / Pinterest
This decadent side dish has won the world over and is increasingly popular still today. There is nowhere on earth though that anyone would ever intend for this to be what arrives on their table after ordering cheesy fries. Some chunks of cheese scattered around a bowl of fries, while literally cheese fries, is the wrong answer.

59. 12 Tacos

Ordered From: Jack in the Box
Average Order Price: $2-$4*
When you are getting take-out at 2am there is a chance you might be on your way home from the night shift. The more likely scenario is that you are on your way home from some kind of party and perhaps the thought processes are not as clear as they would be say, on a Tuesday afternoon.
12 Tacos @boredpanda / Pinterest
In this case a customer ordered 12 tacos and received 24. They then told the staff on duty that there was some kind of mistake to which they were told to enjoy their 24 tacos. Surely many of us can think back to a time when that would be like winning the lottery. So, good for them.

60. Breakfast Sandwich in a Bagel

Ordered From: Unknown
Average Order Price: $3*
A market research firm in 2013 ranked all the most popular breakfast foods and in this survey, breakfast sandwiches ranked no. 10. With coffee at the top of the breakfast list (no surprise there) breakfast sandwiches knocked the old favorite, bacon, right off the list!

Breakfast Sandwich in a Bagel @liv7303 / Pinterest
While very technically correct, this is actually a breakfast sandwich in a bagel, one wonders where this went wrong. It is often said that ordering items that are not on the menu or making adjustments like these confuse the system. By changing details like bun or bagel, it opens things up to be confused.
