8. Riding the Train Home on the Way From A Party Is Like:

We have surely experienced this experience once or twice, maybe twenty times or so as well. Imagine yourself riding the train from a party home. You feel as though everyone knows just how intoxicated you are and that you are standing out like a sore thumb; you are utterly inebriated. This picture reminds us exactly of that. It simply radiates that “I’m a total outsider on this train.” The dog’s facial expression reflects that sense of self-consciousness and embarrassment, as though he too knows he is inappropriate. Just like the folks in this picture are looking at that comically-sized dog, we are sure people were staring at us with surprise and maybe some terror. Reminding us that occasionally we all feel like we don’t quite belong, this relevant moment brilliantly highlights the core of social anxiety. The train ride home turns into a contemplative trip when we consider our decisions and try to fit back into normalcy once we are at our stop.
