You may be familiar with the story of the William Wests, two unrelated individuals who shared an almost identical appearance. When the two guys were transferred to Leavenworth Prison in 1903, the prison personnel experienced a great deal of uncertainty.
Both William West and William West are on Reddit at r/nevertellmetheodds.
The fact that these two are so similar to one another is a major factor in the current use of fingerprints for identification. The Wests had almost identical fingerprints, but they were distinct from one another.
