The German military vehicle with the lowest mass production that utilized Sachtellaufwerk wheels was the Kettenkrad. The NSU-designed Kettenkrad was operational from 1938 to 1948. After the fall of Nazi Germany, the Kettenkrad were entirely phased out of the armed forces and employed primarily in agriculture. Both the North African Theater and the Western Front saw action involving the Kettenkrad.
