An infantry fighting vehicle from South Africa, the Ratel 20 IFV 6×6, was the first in the world to be deployed. The 20 IFV was created in response to a request from the South African army for a light-attack vehicle (LAV) that could handle offensives needing maximum firepower and strategic mobility. It is housed on a MAN truck chassis.
