The DANA series of wheeled, self-propelled artillery pieces includes the SHKH VZ.77 DANA. The Slovak version of the DANA is called the VZ.77. It fires more frequently and with greater accuracy. With its improved on-board control system, the Slovak modification allows for a five-to-four crew reduction and increased combat efficiency.

Konstrukta Trencin designed the DANA in the late 1970s. It gave the indigenous, self-propelled Czechoslovak People’s Army an indirect-fire support weapon. The government was ecstatic about the development since the DANA’s indigenous nature prevented the Czechoslovaks from having to purchase the 2S3 Akatsiya SPG from the Soviet Union.
