Panhard AMLs have mostly been observed during conflicts in Lebanon, Iraq, Chad, and Angola. Compared to other armored vehicles, the AML is comparatively inexpensive to produce, especially when taking into account its recon capabilities. The AML is built around a compact, light 4×4 chassis and weighs about 5.5 tons. These cars have been sold on five separate continents since 1959.
