The Italian, French, Australian, and Bundeswehr armed forces all use the NHIndustries NH90 in their operations. In answer to NATO’s need that battlefield helicopters be able to operate in marine situations, the NH90 is a medium-sized, twin-engine, multirole helicopter.

Being the first helicopter to use fully fly-by-wire flight controls makes the NH90 special. The NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) and the Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH) are the two primary NH90 variants. Since 1995, 446 of these helicopters have been manufactured, with an approximate production cost of $42 million per unit.
