The People’s Liberation Army Air Force is the main user. Program cost is $3.5 billion*, and unit cost is $30 million.
The Chengdu J-20, also known as “The Mighty Dragon,” is a stealthy, all-weather fighter aircraft manufactured by Chengdu Aerospace Corporation specifically for the PLAAF. It is a twinjet. The J-XX program, which got its start in the 1990s, includes the J-20. 2011 saw its first flight, and at the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in 2016, China made an official announcement about it.

The J-20 went into service and started combat training in 2017. There have been 150 of these units constructed as of 2021. After the F-35 and F-22, the J-20 is just the third stealth fighter aircraft of the fifth generation in existence.
