1. Ravenel Jr., Arthur A. Bridge, United States

situated in South Carolina’s Charleston
Founded in 2005
Price: $6 million
Edgar Ravenel Jr. The bridge that links Mount Pleasant with Charleston, South Carolina, is named after a merchant from South Carolina. Constructed using the design-build methodology, the bridge stands as the third-longest cable-stayed bridge in the Western Hemisphere. Because the project is completed by a single party (a designer and builder), this strategy typically results in lower prices.

The creator and constructor of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Parsons Brinckerhoff, a significant rival of Emcor and Bechtel, was Bridge. The bridge features eight twelve-foot lanes with a span of 13,200 feet, or 2.5 miles. The Cooper River is cleared by the bridge by 186 feet. 575 feet is the height of the bridge at its highest point.
Annually, the Arthur Ravenel Jr. 6.2-mile Cooper River Bridge Run, hosted by USA Track & Field, takes place at Bridge. Every year, during the first weekend of April, it’s a massive festival that draws in up to 50,000 people. The starting point of the runner’s route is Mt. Pleasant, and the finishing point is Charleston’s Marion Square.
