Ten thousand laborers lived in the village, and they were all united in their hatred of Ford. Overwork circumstances led to uprisings, and Ford’s project was ultimately abandoned. Fordlandia was abandoned in 1934, and as of the early 2000s, there were just 90 people living there. It is currently largely empty.
