What then transpired? Well, Bodie’s gold ran out and its allure faded fast. After being deserted, it was turned into a ghost town until becoming a State Park in 1962. Bodie used to be a wealthy town with over $32 million in gold and $7 million in silver, but that is a long way off. It is now a popular tourist destination for people who like to explore its spooky, halted decay.
