Like most of Detroit, Michigan, this Catholic church was once a flourishing place of worship but has since collapsed. St. Agnes Church and School housed a high school for girls in addition to a church. When St. Agnes was built in 1924, the neighborhood didn’t have many homes.

The neighborhood built up around the enormously popular Gothic-style church. Unfortunately, St. Agnes’ situation deteriorated when the neighborhood became a hotbed of crime. By the middle of the 1980s, a large number of individuals had left St. Agnes, and the enormous building’s operational expenses could not be met. As a result, the once-loved church had to close.
