Elberton was established in 1886 by Sylvester Wait and his son Elbert on a collection of rural hills situated between Idaho and Washington. With the addition of a black grin shop, general stores, a chapel, a grain warehouse, a flour mill, and a post office, the town started to thrive in the West. The population reached 400 by 1900.

But then there were two catastrophes. The town was completely destroyed by fire in the beginning, and Elberton’s abandonment was finalised two years later by a flood. The United Brethren Church, an overgrown cemetery, and abandoned houses are among the landmarks that have persisted over the past 100 years.
