6. Ovtcharka Caucasian

Average Cost: $2,000.*
Georgia is the origin country.
The Soviet Union bred the Caucasian Shepherd Dog in Georgia as a working dog. Azerbaijani and Georgian Shepherd Dog breeds were selected by Soviet breeders to develop the CSD, also known as the Caucasian Mountain Dog, Caucasian Ovcharka, or Nagazi.

In the Caucasus Mountains, shepherds once protected cattle thousands of years ago, which is where shepherd dogs generally got their start. Ovcharka is a large boy. He is almost as large as a St. Bernard, weighing up to 220 pounds (females can weigh up to 180 pounds). There is a maximum 12-year lifespan.
Because of its bold and protective temperament, this breed should not be “taken lightly,” according to the American Kennel Club. A few breeders on YouTube assert that a Caucasian Ovcharka can take down a wolf. That is definitely the case; however, since Ovcharkas are strong-willed dogs, it is preferable to keep them away from any potential threats or conflicts.
