Pen packs range in price from $10 to $20 on average.
You’ll need rubbing alcohol, a plastic cup, colored Sharpie felt-tip pens (the permanent ink kind), and a white or light-colored cotton shirt for this ThoughtCo hack. First, place a rubber band over the smooth portion of the t-shirt and secure it over the plastic cup. Next, draw a circle with a Sharpie in the middle of the space that extends over the cup lid. Verify that the circle has a diameter of one inch. If desired, use more than one color.

Next, apply rubbing alcohol to the t-shirt circle’s blank area. Add more alcohol one more time until the pattern is to your liking. Before tackling further t-shirt parts, let the alcohol drain. After the shirt is completely dry, use a dryer for fifteen minutes to establish the tie-dye colors. It will come out in a vibrant, entertaining pattern.
