3. Day 2: Implementing the Onion Sock Ritual

It’s time to start the evening ritual of wearing onion socks and put your preparation into use as you start the second day of the Onion Sock Challenge. This is the day you start your active involvement in the challenge; so, it is important to follow the procedure precisely to maximise any possible advantages.
Start the evening with choosing a fresh onion. To eliminate any trash or grime, give it a good wash. Slice the onion carefully into thin, roughly 1/4-inch thick rounds using a sharp knife. Usually three to four slices each foot, you will need enough slices to cover both foot soles. If you find the strong onion smell objectionable, think about shielding your hands by donning disposable gloves during this procedure.
Make sure your feet are dry and clean before laying the onion slices. To eliminate any oils or sweat that can impede the absorption process, you might choose to quickly wash and pat them dry. Some participants believe that gently massaging their feet first will enable them to open the pores and improve absorption.
The important next step is laying the onion slices on your feet. With an eye towards the arch and ball of the foot where the skin is thinnest and most absorbent, arrange the slices on the soles of your feet. Make sure the slices come into direct touch with your flesh. Though this is optional, some people like to keep the onion slices in place using a little bit of plastic wrap.
When the onion slices are in place, gently slide on your fresh cotton socks. The socks should be just tight enough to retain the onion slices in place without cutting off circulation. You might wear a second pair of socks over the first if you worry about onion juice seeping through the socks.
You might smell onions clearly as you get settled in for the evening. This is usual and indicates that the onion’s volatile components are releasing. While some people may take time to adjust, others find the scent soothing. Should the scent be too strong, you might try masking it by dabbing some lavender essential oil drops on the outside of your socks.
Try to keep your feet raised if at all feasible over the evening. Some supporters of the challenge propose that this will improve the detoxifying power. Should you have to get up late, be cautious as the socks could be slippery.
Carefully remove the socks first thing in morning and toss the onion slices. To get any last traces of onion juice, properly wash your feet with warm water and mild soap. Spend a moment noticing the feel of your feet. Some folks describe warmth or a tingling sensation.
Look for any changes in your general well-being as you go about your daily business. Do you feel more energised? Is your sleep now better? Has your digestion changed or your skin? Make sure you note your observations in your journal.
You have advanced your week-long wellness experiment significantly by finishing the second day of the Onion Sock Challenge. Stay dedicated to the process, keep alert to any changes, and eagerly await facing the challenge in the next days.
