For those who do not know, marzipan is a sugar or honey treat. Who thought it could be used as sculpting material, even though you might consider it to be a delectable dessert? Joachim Gauk, President of Germany, gave Queen Elizabeth II a model of the Brandenburg Gate constructed entirely of marzipan.

One of Germany’s most significant structures, the Brandenburg Gate, was meticulously replicated in every way by the Marzipan model. During the Batavian Revolution, a monument from the eighteenth century was constructed in Berlin. In person, the neoclassical sculpture is striking, and the Marzipan replica is also quite good.
