Mum Manufacturing dominated the deodorant market for many years. That all changed, though, in 1931, when Bristol-Myers acquired the business. A few decades later, Ban was created and made available. With its potent mix, the roll-on deodorant promised to guard against odor and moisture for up to 24 hours.

There were other scents to choose from, such as powder fresh, sweet bouquet, and the perennially well-liked unscented scent. The product was advertised primarily for female consumers, with the product being endorsed by stunning women in advertising campaigns. However, a lot of men also turned to the roll-on deodorant from Bristol-Myers to revive their pungent, masculine scents.
