15. Twin Towers of Petronas

If someone had journeyed to witness the world’s highest structure between 1998 and 2004, they would have arrived in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, and gazed at the Petronas Twin Towers. No, we’re not referring to a Harry Potter spell here, but they’re still quite amazing.

The 88-story Petronas Towers, which cost $1.16 billion (about $2 billion in today’s currency), rise 1,482 feet above the earth. Architect Fazlur Rahman Khan, who also planned the structure with an Islamic art motif in mind, gave the structures their distinctive form.
