13. Air Freshener
Ends in: Two Years
Cost on average: $1–$3*
Usually, air fresheners lose their effectiveness two years after they are manufactured. Having a pleasant scent and actually freshening the air is the whole purpose of an air freshener. The other chemicals, which typically have half-lives, will have passed their expiration date, but the aerosol may still function in the can. The smell of the air freshener may be lessened or perhaps gone.

If you have a car air freshener, you should probably throw it out after a year at the latest. Unless, of course, you have a PURGGO Car Air Freshener, which absorbs smells rather than masking them. According to the product’s maker, the PURGGO can endure for more than a year.
