Despite his extraordinary skill, Kyrie Irving has moved around the league because he can’t get along with front-office staff or other players. In the postseason of 2022, Irving played for the Boston Celtics, his previous team, as a member of the Brooklyn Nets. Throughout the series, Kyrie targeted a different group of people. Celtics fans.

In addition to making “obscene gestures” toward the people in attendance during a heartbreaking loss to his previous team, Kyrie reportedly yelled obscenities at a supporter following the game. Due to his two violations, Kyrie was hit with a $50,000 fine. Irving was a repeat offender; therefore, the fine would have been lower.
2. Kyle Busch gave a race official the finger.
Year of fine: 2010
Estimated total fine: $25,000*.
In automobile racing, it seems that speed is everything. As a result, Kyle Busch had to learn the hard way that there is a place and a time for speeding. The last Nascar champion was actually fined one lap for driving his race car too fast at the Texas Motor Speedway in 2010.

Understandably displeased with the handicap, Busch chose to inform race officials in the only way he knew how. Warning: The finger that was between his ring and index fingers was included. Kyle forfeited $25,000 and two additional laps for disrespecting the official.
3. Shaq Was Fined $35,000 for Making Derogatory Remarks

Although Shaquille O’Neal has always been a fan favorite, we can’t say the same about the officials. O’Neal will be remembered as a great NBA player. For instance, in the Magic vs. Celtics game in 2010, Shaq fouled out after just thirteen minutes of play.

Shaq bragged about his fouling out after the game, saying that the crowd “came out to see Number 26 today,” which was Referee Bob Delaney, number 26. Shaq went on, “He was great…out there today,” giving the impression that Delaney had turned the tide of the Celtics game. Shaq was fined $35,000 by the NBA for his acerbic remarks, serving as yet another reminder to everyone of the futility of arguing with the referees.
4. The New England Patriots’ Legacy is Nearly Defeated
2015 is the Year of Fine.

Tom Brady, the quarterback for the New England Patriots, was embroiled in a scandal involving the deflation of game balls in order to have a stronger grip on the ball during the 2014 AFC Championship Game versus the Colts. The New England Patriots were penalized $1 million by the NFL for cheating, and two of their 2016 draft selections were withheld.

It was not so easy for Tom Brady. He missed out on slightly over $3 million in pay during his four-game suspension in 2015. It’s fortunate that he got sponsorships from Footlocker, Under Armour, and other companies to help with bills in the interim.
5. Mike Tyson feels peckish during a fight.
The fine was issued in 1997.
The estimated total fine is $3 million*.
Not surprisingly, one of the largest fines in sports history was imposed in response to Mike Tyson’s cannibalistic outburst in 1997. In case you missed it, during their 1997 match at The Sound and the Fury, “Iron Mike” really bit Evander Holyfield. Two times. When he severed a portion of Evander’s ear and spat it out in the ring, he made the second count. The first was more of a warning nip from “Kid Dynamite.”

Tyson ought to have waited until after the fight if he was so hungry. He lost his boxing license, $3 million, and community service because of that little piece of ear.
6. McGregor was penalized after the fight.
2019 is the Year of Fine.

For a while, Conor McGregor was unmatched in the UFC when it came to talking the talk and doing the walk. Then something changed. The outcome of Conor’s fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov was a defeat. When the game was declared, Khabib was eager to continue challenging opponents. The Irishman took action, as any experienced combatant would. He retaliated violently.

Conor McGregor, who isn’t accustomed to taking the defensive position in these post-fight altercations, was given a smaller punishment this time. He paid a $50,000 fine in addition to a six-month suspension. Strangely enough, McGregor allegedly earned that amount in 2018 from his sponsorship deal with Monster Energy Drinks.
7. The Mouthpiece of Curry It cost him $50,000.

Steph Curry, the point guard for the Golden State Warriors, was fined $50,000 in 2017 for hurling his mouthpiece in the direction of the referee during a matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies. It wasn’t until after what Curry thought was a missed foul call that this horrific act of fury occurred.

Six years later, during another game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Curry threw his mouthpiece, making history repeat itself. But this time, his mouthpiece was headed for the stands, and his fine was $25,000. Curry’s next target is still unknown, but given how accurate his shot is, it’s likely that he won’t miss.
8. MJ changes his phone number.
The fine was imposed in 1995.

Michael Jordan donned #45—the same numbers he used on the baseball diamond—when he triumphantly returned to the hardcourt after finishing his side project in baseball. The NBA welcomed back “Air Jordan” with a hefty $25,000 punishment due to marketing contracts and just to show off its power.

As if punishing “His Airness” for switching jersey numbers without the NBA’s consent weren’t enough, the organization also fined MJ an extra $5,000 for donning shoes that weren’t the same as his colleagues’. Replicas of these shoes are currently available on eBay.
9. Tom Wilson on Ice Gets Too Physical
The fine will be due in 2021.

Tom Wilson, a forward for the Washington Capitals, has emerged as one of the NHL’s most aggressive provocateurs. He plays hockey in a unique way. He hits hard, plays hard, and typically scores 20 goals or more in a season. A player must be careful if Wilson has a grudge against them. Furthermore, he doesn’t appear to give a damn about what other people—including the media and the league—think.

Clauses in the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement prevented Tom Wilson from writing a much larger sanction than the $5,000 he was fined for hitting New York Rangers player Pavel Buchnevich in the back of the head.
10. Mark Cuban violates NBA anti-tampering rules

Mark Cuban is a man renowned for his ability to express his opinions, follow his own desires, and handle writing posthumous apology checks. But when the vocal billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks was called out for breaking the NBA’s anti-tampering rules in 2010, he went a bit too far.

Kobe Bryant’s free agency is drawing near in the offseason, and Cuban hinted that having Kobe with the Mavericks would be fantastic. The league viewed this as the owner of a team interfering with a player who was signed to a different team. In addition to this $100,000 fine, Mark Cuban also paid over $3.1 million in penalties. This is impressive considering that Mark Cuban has a net worth of $4.5 billion.
