Because of their pigmentation, raccoons do resemble a group of criminals. They detangle insects from thick spider webs, shatter open shells with ease, remove snails from their shells or ant larvae from the ground, and raid nests, especially those of wasps, bumblebees, termites, and ants, mostly for the larvae. Their thick fur offers dependable protection from aggressive stinging insects, so they don’t fear their stings.
