The ship’s 362-foot length is propelled by an SG6 nuclear reactor. “Defender of the Heartland” is its motto. This is the heavyweight variant of the WWII-era USS Topeka, a lightweight vessel that served from 1944 to 1949 as part of the Cleveland-class. The Navy claims that the USS Topeka is the third of its namesake.
