This dreamlike image was captured by Shaun Jeffers within the Ruakuri Cave in New Zealand. He grabbed it at the furthest place that people can get within the cave before their air runs out. The glowworms are the source of the blue, sparkling lights. The Ruakuri’s limestone textures are accentuated by the glowworms’ light, producing a stunning effect.

Jeffers talked about how difficult it was to even reach the location of the picture. After setting up gear in chest-deep, pitch-black water for six minutes, he climbed, walked, and swam through minuscule, dark passageways after abseiling down a 115-foot hole. One camera that might have captured this kind of image is the Fuji X-T2, a splash-proof device that works well for nighttime (or cave) photography.
