136. (Un)Natural Waterfall

Possible Camera Used: Sony RX0
Where to Buy: Sony
Cost: $700*
Though this black-and-white photo of a waterfall might look beautiful, it is actually an unnatural sight. Paul Nicklen took this photo in Svalbard, Norway, and he said that it shows an “ironic beauty” in the “collapse of [the] global climate.”

(Un)Natural Waterfall @paulnicklen / Instagram.com
The waterfall is meltwater, rushing from a hole in an Arctic glacier. Nicklen, a nature photographer, says that this unnatural waterfall represents humans’ “failure to act” in the face of global warming, which is the “single greatest threat” that humanity “ha[s] ever encountered.” The Sony RX0 is a camera that could have captured this cold-weather photograph. You can find it at Sony for $700.

137. I Am Walrus

Possible Camera Used: Sony RX0
Where to Buy: Sony
Cost: $700**
The walrus is a fascinating animal. From the class Mammalia, the walrus is a flippered marine mammal that is easy to recognize because of its giant tusks. It lives in the North Pole, as well as the Northern Hemisphere’s Arctic Ocean. Paul Nicklen took this photo of a walrus in Svalbard Norway.

I Am Walrus @paulnicklen / Instagram.com
Walruses won’t eat humans, and they’ll usually only attack in self-defense, though they have flipped a few boats out of curiosity. These animals are smart, and they are the most socially sophisticated and cognitively aware of all pinnipeds. Much like the photo of the unnatural waterfall, the Sony RX0 would be great for this cold-weather picture-taking.

138. Serbian Mountains

There are several mountain systems in Serbia, including the Dinaric Alps, Balkans, Carpathians, and more. There are more than fifteen peaks in the country that rise thousands of feet in altitude. The Canon 5DS R is an excellent landscape camera that could have handled this shot. You can find this camera, with a 50.6MP CMOS Sensor and six image processors, at BH-Photo-Video-Audio for $1,499. You can also find it at Walmart for the more expensive price of $1,920.

139. Mother and Son

Possible Camera Used: Fujifilm X-T10
Where to Buy: Walmart
Cost: $999*
Nature photographer Yasmina Ahdab snapped this shot of two Rhesus Macaques, one a mother and one a son. According to Ahdab, these primates “prioritize family,” as you can see from the mom holding her son’s hand. The son has alopecia, which is a surprisingly common disease in this species’ colonies, though no one knows why.

Rhesus Macaques are part of a family that consists of forty-five species of monkeys, including guenons and baboons. These monkeys are famous for being able to store food in their expansive cheek pouches, something that comes in handy when they’re trying to look for food on the ground while escaping predators.

140. Golden Gate Bridge

Possible Camera Used: Canon EOS 60D
Where to Buy: Walmart
Cost: $950.51*
There have been many photos of the Golden Gate Bridge, but this one is one of the most stunning because of the way the twilight reflects off the arches of the famous structure. This photo was taken by Jeremy Liguori, who used three different photos from a time-lapse and blended them together.

Liguori used a Canon EOS 60D, which is especially good at capturing fast action. This camera can shoot full-resolution images at up to 5.3 frames per second. You can find this camera at Walmart for $950.51 and the body-only at Amazon for $260.

141. Wild West

Possible Camera Used: Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Film Camera
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $225*
@Ranchlands on Instagram took this photo, which seems as though it came straight from a movie about the Wild, Wild West. Taken at Ranchlands Zapata Beach, the photo features a cowboy on a horse, with nothing but the desert, pines, and mountains that he’s facing.

If you want a photo with this type of vintage, sunwashed look, you could try an imitation-classic camera like the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Film Camera. You can find this retro camera, with a full range of functions and a shutter speed of 1.8 seconds, on Amazon for a comparatively cheap price of $225.

142. Through The Fence

Possible Camera Used: Canon EOS M50 Mark II
Where to Buy: Canon
Cost: $700*
This is another photo from @Ranchlands that features a group of friendly farm animals peering through the fence. The entire photo looks as though it came straight from a fairyland, as the color scheme and friendliness of the animals is a gorgeous take on an otherwise domestic scene.

According to Photo Workout, one of the most popular cameras for animal photography is the Canon EOS M50 Mark II. It is great for capturing animals in motion (which they usually are), and it’s more affordable, comparatively than a lot of the other cameras on this list. You can find the Mark II at Canon for $700.

143. Eyes Wide Open

Possible Camera Used: Nikon Z6
Where to Buy: Nikon USA
Cost: $1,600-$4,000*
Yasmina Ahdab snapped this photo of the American alligator, filling us in on some of the cool facts about this reptile. The Alligator can weigh up to one-thousand pounds, and, when a female builds its nest from vegetation, it can lay anywhere from thirty-five to fifty eggs.

Eyes Wide Open @yasmina.nour.photography / Instagram.com
These Alligators are found mainly in freshwater, including swamps, marshes, slow-moving rivers, and other sources, and they eat small mammals who live in there with them. One of the best cameras for snapping photos near water and in humid conditions like the ones the Alligator lives in is the Nikon Z6, which can withstand moist air conditions.

144. Swiss Alps

Possible Camera Used: Canon 5D Mark III
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $837*
Photographer Jeremy Liguori was driving through the Swiss Alps, and he said he was “blown away” repeatedly by the “scale” and “beauty” of the mountains. He snapped this photo in Churwalden, Switzerland, as he and his traveling companion were bushwhacking up the mountain, trying to avoid a thunderstorm.

Liguori used a Canon 5D Mark III camera to take this ethereal, glowing landscape. You can find this camera on Amazon for $837. Normally, it’s $2,522, but there appears to have been a price reduction, so if you’ve been searching for the Mark III for a while and want a reasonable deal, get it while it’s on sale.

145. Volcanic Flowers

Possible Camera Used: Canon Rebel T6i
Where to Buy: Walmart
Cost: $900*
Yasmina Ahdab’s photograph of the Lehua flower is a beautiful exercise in contrast, as the red and green stand out so distinctly from one another. The Lehua flower is native to Hawaii, and you can find in growing on the Ohi’a tree. The Lehua differs from other Hawaiian plants because it is able to live near toxic volcanic gases.

Volcanic Flowers @yasmina.nour.photography / Instagram.com
It simply shuts the pores of its leaves to avoid the volcanic spewing. Ohi’a trees grow on lava, and they are one of the first plants you can find growing from new lava flows, despite how hostile the terrain may be. The Ohi’a is Hawaii’s most common native tree.

146. Buildings In Cameroon

Possible Camera Used: DJI Air 2S
Where to Buy: Best Buy
Cost: $1,750*
Cameroon is a lovely country, and who knew that it was home to mid-century modern architecture? If you want to take a high-up photograph like this one, you might need to invest in a drone camera. The DJI Air 2S, which you can find at Best Buy for $1,750, will let you reach new, clear heights with your photos. Though the drone is expensive, being able to see a whole new perspective on the world makes it worth it.

147. Unfurling

Possible Camera Used: Canon Rebel T6i
Where to Buy: Walmart
Cost: $900*
Yasmina Ahdab captioned this photo, “Trying to make her way through the world.” This little, curled plant does look quite vulnerable, and it was captured in precise detail. A camera that could have captured this macro photo is the Canon Rebel T6i, which you can find at Walmart for $900.

Unfurling @yasmina.nour.photography / Instagram.com
This curled plant is the Uluhe Fern. Also known as the dilim, it is common in the Pacific (this one was taken in Hawaii) and Polynesia. Ferns are tough plants. These keystone species can colonize pretty much any terrain, including harsh grounds like abandoned roads, lava flows, and talus.

148. Sea Glass

Possible Camera Used: iPhone 13 Pro Max
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $500-$800*
While landscape photography is undoubtedly a feat whenever undertaken, there is also beauty in the miniature that deserves to be explored. Guido Cassanelli from Italy captured this picture on his iPhone, and it became one of the winners of the Shot on iPhone Macro Challenge 2022.

If you don’t know exactly what this substance is, don’t worry because many people who look at this picture don’t. However, the intricate details captured everyone’s eye, including the judges at the competition. The image wonderfully depicts the marvels of the Apple camera’s macro feature, which many people don’t use every day but should.

149. The Cave

Possible Camera Used: iPhone 13 Pro
Where to Buy: Apple
Cost: $600*
Marco Colletta, an Italian photographer, captured this picture of a hibiscus on his iPhone and titled it ‘The Cave’. One of the judges praised Colletta for his composition of the picture, commenting that it takes work to capture sideways photos using the macro feature. Another judge appreciated Colletta’s balance of textures and colors. All in all, this picture proves that you don’t need a costly camera to achieve a focused shot like this.

150. Hidden Gem

Possible Camera Used: iPhone 13 Pro Max
Where to Buy: Amazon
Cost: $500-$800*
Jirasak Panpiansin of Thailand captured this picture of a dewdrop on his iPhone. Not only did he manage to capture the drop of water in all its beauty, but the image also showcases the details of the leaf through the dewdrop, which is evidence of how skilled this shot is.

Hidden Gem @apple/Pinterest
According to the photographer, this tiny drop might have escaped the human eye, but its beauty is fully captured in this iPhone shot. This picture is a testimony of how some of the best elements of nature are often hidden in the miniature, waiting for someone to come looking for them.
