8.When You Smell Food You Can’t Eat Yet


Though we have to wait till all the visitors come and everything, this dog most definitely resembles us throughout the hours before Thanksgiving, when a lot of the food we are going to eat in just a few hours is ready. We’ll just sit in the living room, drooling our souls out, waiting for us to at last get permission to pack our faces with mouthwatering Thanksgiving fare. Oh, the aches.
A universal feeling spanning species, the torment of waiting for a feast is Enough to drive anyone mad with expectation is that tantalising aroma emanating from the kitchen, the sound of pots and pans clanking, and the sporadic glimpse of something great being created. Perhaps one of life’s toughest challenges of willpower is psychological warfare—knowing food is ready but being told you have to wait.
The owner of this large dog is absolutely trying to prevent him from attacking whatever he smells for dinner. Given his stature, we are very shocked she has been able to restrain him. It’s evidence of solid instruction and self-control, even if right now that self-control is under extreme test. Something we all too well know, especially during holiday dinners or when passing by a bakery with freshly made products in the window, the scene aptly depicts that internal conflict between basic wants and civilised behaviour.
