A light streak
The Hubble Space Telescope discovered this minute portion of the Cygnus supernova blast wave, which appears as a delicate streak of light. The blast came from a supernova explosion that was over 2,400 light-years away and tore apart a dying star that was 20 times as massive as the Sun.

Credits go to ESA, Hubble, NASA, and W. Blair. Leo Shatz is acknowledged.
