“Tree,” submitted by Manuel Enrique Gonzalez Carmona, was recognized with a “Commended” award in the “Nature Category” of the 2020 Siena Drone Photo Awards. The foliage you are accustomed to seeing on a “tree” isn’t quite what it is. Rather, the “tree” of Carmona was produced by the concentration of water and minerals, which resulted in a tree-like pattern.

The tree was made by nature, which Carmona called “ephemeral,” and strong rains might just as easily wipe it away. This picture might have been taken with a waterproof Parrot HydroFoil Mini Drone, which can approach wet environments without causing harm.
