Unlike your average Joe, celebrities usually have enough money to delay the aging process as much as possible. Most of them take full advantage of this, hiring dermatologists, make-up artists, and in some cases, plastic surgeons. That being said, we can’t help but wonder what they might look like in years to come.
In other cases, famous icons were cut down in their prime, leaving us to guess what they may look like had they have lived a full life. From James Dean to Princess Diana, some artists have used tech like Photoshop and apps like FaceApp for iPhone to add a few extra years onto these famous faces.

1. Emilia Clarke

FaceApp is responsible for this one, but this time it targeted Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, Heir to the Iron Throne, Emilia Clarke. The Game of Thrones actress is undeniably stunning both in and out of costume, so is it any surprise that she looks this good aged up?

We can’t help but feel like older Clarke resembles the kind of grace you find in older actresses like Helen Mirren. Hers is really a timeless beauty. It might be difficult to imagine the 30-something HBO star as elderly now, but we all know how quickly time passes when you’re having fun.

2. Robert Downey Jr.

Robert Downey Jr. is best known for his portrayal of Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. For a few years, it looked like the actor’s bad-boy reputation had scuppered his chances for mainstream success, but it turns out critics were wrong.

Now in his late 50s, RDJ is one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars, but what’s going to happen in 20 years’ time? If this FaceApp work of art is anything to go by, the Disney star is going to be a silver fox. We’re not mad about it.

3. Kylie Jenner

There was a time, not that long ago, where thinking about what someone would look like in the senior years could only be turned into a physical creation by putting pen to paper. Luckily, we live in the age of ever-evolving media – and celebrities themselves have been known to jump on the bandwagon.

Beauty mogul Kylie Jenner had a go at making herself older using FaceApp with her Apple iPhone. She doesn’t look like momager Kris Jenner, that’s for sure. Let’s face it, it’s unlikely Jenner is ever going to look like this given her penchant for fillers.

4. Whitney Houston

There’s a reason why so many singers look up to Whitney Houston as the one to beat. Although the hitmaker had her troubles, her incredible talent always shone through. Whitney passed away at the age of 48 in 2012, leaving fans broken-hearted.

We all would have loved to see the Sony artist grow older and continue to smash her career, but sadly, it didn’t pan out that way. Even so, this Photoshop image gives us a little bit of an idea. Houston is still as beautiful as ever, with that soulful glint in her eye that can’t be missed.

5. Dolly Parton

Ever since she exploded onto the scene many moons ago, Dolly Parton has managed to do what few country singers can. Not only is she prolific within that niche, but she’s just a straight-up institution. Dolly may be in her 70s, but she’s always stayed glamorous and young – with a little help, of course.

If Dolly had decided to go down a different route and age naturally, what would she look like now? Well, according to a test done by Vulture.com using FaceApp, the Netflix star would still have her trademark beautiful glow, but be slightly greyer around the edges.

6. Bob Marley

If Bob Marley were alive now, he would be approaching his ‘80s. We can’t help but feel like the infamous musician would be a much-needed calming presence, but alas, it wasn’t to be. So, if he were alive now, what would Marley look like?

According to this artist, he would look much like he did at the time of his passing, only slightly more weathered and distinguished. It’s no secret that Marley was a handsome man, and judging by this prediction, he would have aged like a fine wine and not like a bottle of Walmart’s Great Value plonk.

7. Kurt Cobain

It’s bizarre to think about it, but Kurt Cobain’s stint as one of music’s most famous leading men didn’t last all that long. Nirvana’s Nevermind album was released in 1991 and by 1994, the icon took his own life after a long battle with his inner demons.

That being said, the loss of the 27-year-old grunge god is still heavily lamented. Not only was Kurt extremely talented, but he was also notoriously handsome, so it’s only natural that fans wonder what he would look like today. If this Photoshop/CGI rendering is anything to go by, he would have filled out somewhat.

8. Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera is a little bit like Madonna when it comes to changing her style. She started out as a bubblegum pop princess with an edge, before ushering in the “Dirrty” era wearing a bikini top and a pair of chaps.

With that being said, one artist called Grumblebits thought it would be a novel idea to age up Xtina to see what she might look like in a few years. With a curly grey mane of hair and thinner lips, Aguilera certainly looks different, but just like the Sony star once crooned, “You are beautiful, no matter what they say.”

9. Freddie Mercury

At the time of his passing in 1991, Queen frontman Freddie Mercury was already a living legend. Over the years, his legacy has only grown. We have plenty of his incredible work to look back on, but have you ever wondered what the “Bohemian Rhapsody” hitmaker would look like now?

Luckily for us, someone else used Photoshop so that we don’t have to. If Freddie were alive now he would be well into his 70s. This artist believed that Freddie would still sport a stache and possibly wear glasses. This one is open to interpretation, but it did the rounds on Facebook for a while.

Is it us, or can you really tell when the artist doesn’t like the face they’re working on? Infamous bad boy Charlie Sheen has hit the headlines for numerous reasons over the span of his career, but can you imagine him being just as much of a lady killer well into his senior years?
