The Russian Ground Forces manufacture the T-15 Armata, sometimes referred to as Object 149, which is a heavy infantry fighting vehicle. With its steel and ceramic composite armor, this 48-ton war machine can withstand rounds of 1,200–1,400 mm in diameter. A 30mm automatic cannon, a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, Kornet-EM anti-tank missiles, and other weapons make up the main armament.

Though its turret was covered, the Armata was first spotted in 2015 during Moscow Victory Day Parade rehearsals. The Russian Ground Forces currently use the MT-LB and BMP-2 systems, which will be replaced by the Armata.
