American military personnel refer to the A-10 Thunderbolt II, also known as “The Warthog” or “The Hog,” as close air support attack planes. The Warthog can withstand significant damage without faltering thanks to its 1,200 pounds of titanium armor, which shields the cockpit and aviation systems.

Because of its short takeoff and landing speeds, the Warthog can operate from airstrips to the front lines in a short amount of time. The only model of the Warthog ever built was the single-seater A-10A. Despite being there since the 1970s, the warthog is not going anywhere. It is anticipated that the A-10 will remain in service until 2040.
